Estimates for the cost to repair the Carroll Lake Dam are close to half a million dollars.
According to TWRA biologist Dave Rizzuto, a dam coordinating inspector and a chief engineer inspected the site last month and estimated the cost to repair the gates of the dam are close to $500,000 dollars.
Rizzuto says that bids for repair have been taken, but currently there’s no money available at the state or federal level to pay for the repairs.
Rizzuto thinks it could be late next year before repairs are complete.
The two gates were damaged when five-inches of rain fell in a span of three hours and two mechanisms were damaged from the water flow pressure.
Rizzuto adds that once repairs are made and the lake is restocked, it could be several years before fishing is allowed at Carroll Lake.
