An 87-year-old Ripley woman is recovering in a rehabilitation facility after police say she was attacked and robbed inside her home last month.

Ripley police say Erlin Gooch was found September 9th lying on the floor of a back room with blood covering her head.

Gooch told police she was punched in the face and struck in the head. Her purse, wallet, phone and credit card were reportedly stolen.

Gooch suffered cuts to her head, two broken arms and other injuries. Police say she told investigators she recognized one of her attackers from her neighborhood.

She later provided investigators with several names.

No arrests have been made. Police say they have persons of interest but are not releasing additional details.

Gooch is a former civil rights activist and holds a doctorate in theology. She is recovering but remains in pain and is afraid following the attack.
