41st Tennessee Iris Festival begins this weekend

The 41st Annual Tennessee Iris Festival kicks off this weekend in Dresden after being canceled last year due to the pandemic.

This year’s theme is “Where Kindness Blooms.”

Being recognized this year by the Tennessee Iris Festival are this year’s Golden Irises, Tom Reavis (REV’-uhs) and Mike and Norma Parham.

The Citizen of the Year is Weakley County Sheriff’s Investigator Eric Smith; Volunteers of the Year are Todd and Wendi Maxey; and the Grand Marshals for the 41st Annual Tennessee Iris Festival Parade are the kindest students and teachers at Dresden Elementary, Middle, and High Schools, as nominated by students.

The festival kicks off Saturday morning with the City-wide Yard Sale, Iris Festival Pet Show at 4:00, Power Wheels in the Park at 5:00, and the Opening Ceremonies at Wilson Park at 6:00, featuring live music from “The Kimberlie Helton Band” and fireworks at dark.

The annual Cemetery Walk is Sunday afternoon at 4:00 at Sunset Cemetery.

The Tennessee Iris Festival runs through next Saturday.
