Blue Light Hunger Fight big success, surpasses last year’s totals

Thanks to donations from the community, the Thunderbolt Radio and Digital and Martin Police Department “Blue Light Hunger Fight” collected 1,730 non-perishable food items and $1,793 in cash donations to help feed the hungry this holiday season.

This year’s food totals surpassed last year’s contributions by nearly 430 and cash donations increased by $1,015.

Last year saw just over 1,300 food items and $778 in cash donations.

The food items and money have been donated to We Care Ministries to help stock their food pantry to help those in need this Christmas.

Thunderbolt Radio staff and Martin Police officers were set up in downtown Martin’s Festival Park for 12 hours Wednesday collecting food and money from generous listeners.
