Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced the end of statewide public health orders across the state.
Governor Lee signed Executive Order 80, to address economic and regulatory functions, while also ending the local authority to issue mask requirements in the 89 counties directed by the state health department.
With his signing, Governor Lee said COVID-19 was now a managed public health issue in Tennessee, and no longer a statewide public health emergency.
Governor Lee said as Tennesseans continues to get vaccinated, it was time to lift remaining local restrictions, focus on economic recovery and get back to business of the state.
The Governor has requested counties with independent health departments, including Shelby, Madison, Davidson, Hamilton, Knox and Sullivan, to lift all remaining business restrictions or mask requirements no later than the end of May.
