Department of Health Reports More Than 1,000 Expired Doses of Vaccine in Shelby County

The Tennessee Department of Health announced Monday that COVID-19 vaccine expired in Shelby County.

Reports said last Friday, the Shelby County Health Department reported more than 1,000 doses of vaccine were discarded due to expiration.

Upon the report, the Governor’s Unified-Command Group immediately deployed state health personnel to provide support, review handling procedures and assess the Shelby County Health Department’s inventory of vaccines.

The Department of Health is expected to release more information about the expired vaccine this afternoon, during a media briefing with Commissioner Dr. Lisa Piercey.
