Dyersburg man killed in Alabama plane crash, passenger injured

A West Tennessee man was killed and a passenger was injured when a small airplane crashed Saturday night in north Alabama.

FAA officials say 70-year-old John T. Sigman Sr., of Dyersburg, died when a Piper PA-32 plane went down in the woods and caught fire near Cullman Regional Airport.

A Cullman man, identified as the only passenger in the aircraft, was seriously injured.

Coroner Jeremy Kilpatrick says Sigman had come to Alabama to consider purchasing the airplane that crashed.

Federal investigators will try to determine the cause of the crash.
