Greenfield’s Darby, Moore-McNeil finalists for Miss Basketball, McKenzie’s King Mr. Basketball finalist

Greenfield’s Tess Darby and Chloe Moore-McNeil are finalists for Class A Miss Basketball and McKenzie’s Lucas King is a Class A finalist for Mr. Basketball.

The Mr. and Miss Basketball finalists were announced Thursday.

Joining Darby and Moore-McNeil for Class A Miss Basketball is Karly Weathers from Loretto High School.

Meanwhile, Dalton Marsh from Red Boiling Springs and Ryley McClaren from Eagleville, join King as Class A Mr. Basketball finalists.

The Greenfield Lady Jackets are the number one team in Tennessee and are 26-0 going into Thursday night’s game at Peabody.

Tess Darby has signed to play with the Tennessee Lady Vols, while Chloe Moore-McNeil will announce after the season where she intends to play next year.

The awards will be presented to the top girls and boys in five classifications of the TSSAA on the floor of Murphy Center on the campus of MTSU on Tuesday night, March 10 at 7:00.

High school head basketball coaches and members of the media nominated the finalists and a statewide committee of sportswriters selected winners based on performance during the 2019-2020 regular season. Academics and character were also taken into consideration.

The draw for the Division I boys’ state basketball tournament will be held prior to the Mr. and Miss Basketball Awards on the floor of Murphy Center at 5:00 p.m. The draw for the Division I girls’ state tournament brackets will be scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8 at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro.
