The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado struck Henry County early Wednesday evening.
Following a survey of the damage Thursday, NWS officials confirmed the tornado was an EF-1, with 95-100 mph maximum winds, and traveled a distance of six to seven miles.
The tornado caused extensive damage in the northeast area of the county, damaging around 40 homes, 10 mobile homes, and destroying one business.
The most significant damage was in the area of Buchanan Road and Highway 79 North.
No injuries have been reported.
