The Paducah Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved an ordinance to establish an entertainment destination center downtown.
According to West Kentucky Star, the plan will allow customers within Paducah’s downtown area, to carry alcoholic drinks outside of participating businesses.
Those customers can then walk the streets, visit the riverfront, and participate in various outdoor events.
The city is designing cups specific to downtown Paducah for the participating businesses to use.
Alcoholic drinks must stay in the designated downtown area, and beverages purchased outside of the center will be prohibited.
The Ordinance also said the cups cannot be refilled or brought into establishments.
The city will submit an application to the Kentucky Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.
Once approved by the state, the Entertainment Destination Center could be in place by Memorial Day weekend.
