Union City school board members have approved the new calendar year plan.
During a brief meeting on Monday morning, the board voted unanimously for the recommendations of Director of Schools Wes Kennedy.
The school year will have the state mandated 180 days of instruction, with classes to begin on August 9th.
Director Kennedy said his plan was to begin school early, and dismiss before Memorial Day, which has worked well over past years.
The calendar includes Fall Break on October 6th-thru-8th, with Thanksgiving break scheduled for November 24th thru the 26th.
Union City schools will take their Christmas and New Year’s break from December 17th thru January 4th.
Also on the schedule was Spring Break on April 4th thru the 8th, with classes also dismissed during the year for Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day and Good Friday.
The scheduled last day for students is now set for May 24th.
