UT Martin’s spring commencement will be held Friday and Saturday in four separate in-person ceremonies.
The university’s Chief Communications Officer Bud Grimes says commencement will be on the main campus in the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center at 6:00 Friday night, Saturday morning at 10:00, Saturday afternoon at 2:00, and Saturday night at 6:00.
Tickets are required to enter the Elam Center, and masks and social distancing are required at all times.
Doors will open 45 minutes before each ceremony begins, and guests are asked to clear Skyhawk Arena for cleaning within 30 minutes after each ceremony ends.
All four commencement ceremonies will be livestreamed at facebook.com/utmartin and youtube.com/utmartin.
The ceremonies will be archived for later viewing on YouTube and will also be broadcast live in Skyhawk Fieldhouse located adjacent to the Elam Center, which will allow up to 350 additional guests to view the commencements.
While tickets are required to enter the Elam Center, additional tickets will not be required to access Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
Dr. Philip Acree Cavalier, provost and UT Martin vice chancellor for academic affairs, will preside over the commencement ceremonies, offer the commencement address, and confer degrees.
In addition, several speakers will appear virtually: The Rev. Amanda Crice, campus minister, UT Martin Wesley Foundation, will offer the invocation; UT President Randy Boyd and UT Martin Chancellor Keith Carver will offer greetings and personal congratulations; and Student Government Association immediate-past President Hunter McCloud and UT Martin Alumni Council President Victor Andrews will each address the graduating class.
Each ceremony will close with a performance of the Alma Mater by the UTM Virtual Choir, recorded and edited by 2010 UT Martin graduate Joseph Sam
