A Union City woman is being held in the Obion County Jail on charges that includes attempted second degree murder.
Union City police reports said 49 year old Christa Lavina Simpson, of Gibbs Street, was taken into custody following a vehicle-pedestrian incident near 106 Nash Street.
Officers were called to the scene Saturday afternoon, where Union City Fire Department personnel were attending to 77 year old Curtis Wilson, of Nash Street.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing Ms. Simpson in a vehicle, arguing with Wilson, who was standing near the roadway.
The witnesses then told officers Ms. Simpson drove off, made a u-turn, and sped into Wilson, causing serious injuries.
Police reports said Wilson was flown to Regional One Health in Memphis, with multiple injuries that would require surgery.
Ms. Simpson was located and was also charged with second offense driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injury.
The vehicle used to strike Wilson was impounded by Union City police.
