Uptick in Seismic Activity Leads to Request for Additional Storage in Obion County

The Obion County Budget Committee has approved a request for needed disaster storage space.

Emergency Management Director Danny Jowers said recent information from FEMA and Homeland Security led to the needed storage.(AUDIO)

 

Due to the uptick in seismic activity, Jowers presented a proposal from FEMA to assist smaller communities.(AUDIO)

 

The EMA Director said the estimated cost of additional storage space would be around $55,000, with FEMA covering half of the cost.

Once constructed, Jowers said Homeland Security would add fencing, gates and other security features at no cost to the county.

Budget Committee members approved the request unanimously, with the issue now forwarded to the full County Commission.
