Union City Middle School Posts Two Wins Against Milan

Union City notched a pair of middle school basketball victories over Milan on Monday night, winning the girls’ game 58-14 and the boys’ contest 40-33.

School Communications Director Mike Hutchens said Addy Launer and Alli McMillan combined for 35 points in the Lady Tornadoes’ runaway romp.

McMillan had 11 of her 17 markers in the second quarter as (7-5) Union City sprinted to a 36-12 halftime lead.

Launer finished with a game-high 18 points.

The Twister boys are also now (7-5) after completing a season sweep of Milan.

Union City, which won an earlier double-overtime decision over the Bulldogs, took a 10-4 lead after the first quarter and led 25-16 at the intermission.

Kobe Maddox tallied nine of his team-high 13 points in the second frame for the Purple and Gold.

Hollister Johnson also finished in double figures with 10 points, while Brayden Marshall tossed in eight, including a pair of 3-pointers.

The Middle School will celebrate 8th Grade Night on Thursday when the Tornadoes host Gibson County.
