Several New Laws Now in Place in Tennessee

0b-2

Several new laws began in Tennessee on New Year’s Day.

One new law requires a GPS tracking device on breathalyzers installed on cars owned by people convicted of Driving Under the Influence.

The devices can tag the location every time the car is started, when it randomly requires a breathalyzer, and when a test is skipped.

Another law requires the Department of Children’s Services to make sure children in juvenile detention facilities and youth development centers can access chaplain services.

A new law in affect will now require licensed pharmacists to inspect drug take back donations before they are dispensed, and require pharmacists to store them in a secure area.

And with the New Year, the state will also begin offering reimbursements for handgun safety courses at federal licensed gun shops.

The Department of Safety will pay up to $30 to everyone who completes the course for the first time.
