Union City Energy Authority Offers “Thanks” to Those Who Helped Conserve This Week

Officials with the Union City Energy Authority have expressed gratitude for those who helped conserve electricity on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Tennessee Valley Authority requested homes and businesses to cut back on power usage for over 20 hours due to extreme demand.

Union City Energy Authority CEO, Kyle Ross, said the TVA lifted the load reduction request at 11:25 on Wednesday morning.

Ross said the TVA hit a new historical peak of over 34,000 Megawatts, with the weather event testing  new improvements made after the Winter storm of 2022.

The CEO said load reduction efforts by local customers greatly impacted the grid.
