UTM Basketball Squads Light Up the Scoreboard

Freshman Norah Clark put up a career high 29 points and nine rebounds Saturday as the University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team claimed a 75-46 victory over Ohio Valley Conference rival SIUE.

           

Clark’s scoring tally was 10 points higher than her previous career-best score while her nine boards were also a game-high. The Springfield, Mo. native generated 23 points in the second half alone and went a perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line as the Skyhawks sank 20 of their 22 attempts from the charity stripe as a team.

           

Additionally, UT Martin received 15 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals from Lexi Rubel. Kenley McCarn and Anaya Brown each scored 12 points apiece.

 

The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball squad allowed SIUE only 20 points in the first half and held the advantage to secure a 90-79 triumph on the road Saturday.

                      

Overall, UT Martin held an advantage for 37:56 of clock time and led by as many as 31 points with 15 minutes remaining.

           

OVC scoring leader Jordan Sears was on fire once again, tying a career-high with 34 points on 9-of-15 shooting. He sank a career-best six 3-pointers in eight attempts while going 10-for-12 from the free throw line. In addition, the junior from Daytona Beach, Fla. tacked on six assists, four rebounds and three steals in 38 minutes.

           

Jacob Crews was responsible for his second consecutive double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds while Issa Muhammad tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, a career-high five assists and two steals for the Skyhawks.

UT Martin resumes its lengthy road trip on Tuesday, Feb. 6 when it travels to OVC foe Little Rock.
