UT-Martin Spring Football Signees Include Transfers from SEC

The UT-Martin Skyhawks football program has wrapped up another decorated recruiting class.

Coming off its third consecutive conference championship, the Skyhwawks received commitments from 13 offensive and 16 defensive players in the early and regular signing periods.

Included in the signings for Coach Jason Simpson’s team was University of Kentucky transfer quarterback Kaiya Sheron.

In his junior and senior seasons at Somerset High School in Kentucky, Sheron threw for 5,234 yards and 43 touchdowns, while rushing for 1,424 yards and 19 touchdowns.

The Skyhawks also signed Vanderbilt transfer running back Patrick Smith, who rushed for 838 yards with the Commodores.

During his final two seasons at Holy Spirit High School in New Jersey, Smith rushed for over 3,000 yards and scored 35 touchdowns.
