Union City’s John Garrett claimed the championship of the Bassmaster Elite Series tournament in Florida.
During the event at the Harris Chain in Leesburg, Garrett led from wire-to-wire and took home the first place prize of $103,000.
The win was his first ever as an Elite Series rookie professional fisherman.
To win the tournament, Garrett turned in a four day total catch of 84 pounds and 5 ounces, which was just over ten pounds better than the second place finisher.
During his final day of competition, Garrett landed a 7 pound 4 ounce bass that helped seal the championship win.
