The University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture has broke ground on a state-of-the art poultry research and education facility.

The project at the Middle Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center, in Spring Hill, will include four 54-by-600 feet broiler production houses.

The facility will also include a research and teaching lab and office space.

With poultry production and processing being a $10 billion dollar industry in Tennessee, UT President Randy Boyd said the facility will benefit animal welfare, production efficiency and workforce development.

Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2025, with approximately 160,000 broiler chickens in the houses at maximum capacity.
