
The National Weather Service in Paducah has announced a new tornado record.
The Weather Service said the tornado outbreak during the afternoon and evening of April 2nd resulted in 23 tornadoes that touched down across the region.
This broke a record for most tornadoes in a single event in the history of the Paducah National Weather Service office.
The previous record was 21 on May 6th of 2003.
The Weather Service also said the rare high risk Level 5 zone, issued for April 2nd, was the first time in the local region since November of 2013.
