Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has requested a major disaster declaration.
Governor Lee has issued the request to make federal assistance available for counties affected by severe weather and flooding in early April.
This request is in addition to the emergency declaration approved by President Donald Trump on April 3rd.
If the request is approved, some residents will be able to apply for FEMA individual assistance.
This would include rental assistance, home repair and personal property replacement, with a maximum aid of $43,600.
The FEMA individual assistance would include 15 counties, that includes Obion and Dyer.
Governor Lee has also requested public assistance for several counties that includes Obion, Dyer, Gibson, Lake and Henry.
This assistance reimburses state and local governments, utilities and some non-profits for debris removal and can also help with repairs to roads, bridges, water facilities and other government equipment.
