
Murray State head men’s basketball coach Ryan Miller announced the signing of 6-6 guard Mathis Courbon, who joins the program for the 2025-26 season as a freshman.
Courbon comes to the Racers from Lyon, France after developing his game since 2022, often playing up to higher competition with the France U18 and U21 program, French Pro-B League and with the France national team in the U18 European Championship Tournament.
“Mathis Courbon, our first French basketball player at Murray State, marks an exciting step in recruiting elite European talent,” Miller said. “This 6-6 dynamic athlete brings proven playmaking and scoring prowess to the Racers.”
In four seasons of 72 games in the Pro-B League, Courbon played 22.8 minutes per game and scored 835 points, with per game averages of 11.5 points with 2.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists. His career totals included a field goal average of 58 percent and 42 percent from the 3-point line. He was also excellent from the free throw line at 86 percent, while totaling 194 assists against only 139 turnovers.
In the 2023-24 season, Courbon had 20 games of double-figure scoring and 10 games of 20 or more points. He had a career-high 33 points against Saint-Quentin (Dec. 9, 2023) on 12-of-14 from the field.
Courbon played four games in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament where he scored 39 points, grabbed 34 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.
