The Tennessee Iris Festival is honoring Dresden High School Performing Arts Director Jacob Abbott and Dresden Middle Band Director Becca Steele as Grand Marshals this year.
Director Abbot told Thunderbolt News how it felt to be named as Grand Marshall.
Mr. Abbot praised Dresden for the support that they have showed to the music program
After Director Abbott was hired at Dresden in 2016 he quickly began building up the music program. He says he is expecting to have 100 kids in the program by this fall.
Jacob Abbott is a graduate of UT Martin and was voted Teacher of the Year for Dresden High School in 2020. He was also named to the Yamaha “40 Under 40” class of 2025.
