Union City High School Seniors to Receive Diplomas Saturday Morning

Ninety-one Union City High School seniors will be the focus of commencement exercises Saturday morning as the Class of 2025 participates in graduation ceremonies at War Memorial Stadium.

Principal Jacob Cross will present diplomas to the widely-decorated class, with the program set to begin at 10:00.

Valedictorian Addison Kitchen will address her classmates as the keynote speaker. Myranda Parr, Class Salutatorian, will also speak to the graduates’ families, friends, and fellow graduates.

The remainder of the Class Top 10 includes Edie Rodgers, Antonia Chavez-Pastor, Claire Frilling, Daisy Sanchez, Dylan Ruiz, Xavier Hinson, Maya Runions, and Ben Kail.

Collectively, the Class of 2025 has become the latest chapter in the storied commitment to excellence of Union City Schools.

All totaled, the group has been offered over $5M in scholarships while performing 3,534 community service hours. Sixty-nine percent of the class qualified for the HOPE Scholarship, and members of the class have earned 246 dual enrollment credits through the University of Tennessee at Martin, Bethel University, and TCAT Northwest.

There are 16 graduates of the prestigious UCHS College Preparatory Magnet School, and those students average 27.96 on the ACT. Four class members made 30 or higher on the ACT, with the average score of the group on the ACT being 21.39.

The class features 30 honors graduates, meaning they met all four benchmarks on the ACT. There are 15 distinction graduates, 23 BETA graduates, and 18 Tennessee Scholars.

Fifty-six percent of the class will attend a four-year college. Another 14 percent will attend a vocational or technical school, and 19 percent will go on to community college.

Six percent will join the military, while five percent of the graduating class plans to join the workforce.

The class will arrive to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance processional, with Class President Edie Rodgers welcoming guests. Each graduate received 21 tickets to give to persons of their choice.

School Board Chairman Cathy Waggoner will award diplomas to graduates, with Director of UC Schools Wes Kennedy officially accepting the Class of 2025.
