Memphis Melrose is being forced to forfeit all football postseason games from the past season, along with the payback of thousands of dollars in awards.
The TSSAA is requiring the state Class-4A runners-up from last season to also forfeit three regular season wins after playing an ineligible student.
Fox 13 Memphis reported a letter was issued from the TSSAA to school Principal Kristopher Davis, which outlined multiple violations for the 2024-25 football season.
The violations included non-faculty coaches completing required courses, practice violations, and playing a transfer student who was not eligible.
Reports said Melrose played the student who transferred from Hamilton High School after several coaches were fired and the season was canceled.
Due to the ineligible player, Melrose will repay the association over $11,000 and will return their Class-4A runner-up plaque from the state championship football game.
