Obion County Central High School will have a new principal to start the school year.
Corry Essary told Thunderbolt News he has stepped down from the position to accept a teaching and coaching job in Weakley County.
Essary initially served two years as assistant principal and Athletic Director at Central, and just completed his second year as the school principal.
Essary told Thunderbolt News he will now teach at Sharon, and will coach football and baseball at Westview High School.
He said the decision to leave Obion County was in the best interest of his family, with his wife serving as the Special Education District Director in Weakley County.
Obion County Director of Schools Tim Watkins said Essary did an outstanding job during his time with the school system, and was fully understanding at doing what was best for his family.
Director Watkins said the principal position has now been posted for applications, with interviews to follow.
The Director said he hopes to have the principal position filled soon.
