The Tennessee Valley Authority is urging customers to conserve power today due to the extreme heat.

Union City Energy Authority CEO Kyle Ross said the TVA is requesting customers to raise their thermostats a few degrees, and to also delay any non-essential loads on the system.

The request is due to an increase in electricity demand, as high daytime temperatures continue in the region.
