Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Seeking Public Help in Reporting Turkey Sightings

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is asking the public to report turkey sightings.

The public assistance is now needed to help biologists better understand and manage wild turkey populations in the state.

Zak Danks, who is Kentucky’s Wild Turkey Program coordinator, said turkeys spend summer days eating, moving and raising their recently hatched poults.

With Fish and Wildlife staff unable to cover all territories, Danks said the eyes of the public assist in understanding turkey population trends.

The survey window is now in place until August 31st, with public sightings reported on the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Turkey Survey webpage.
