
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee has announced a year long, statewide celebration of the nation’s 250th birthday.
Governor Lee plans to visit all 95 counties, which includes a Farmland Preservation Tour across all Three Grand Divisions to honor Tennessee’s agriculture heritage.
The Governor said one of Tennessee’s greatest contributions to America’s success has been the strength of the agriculture industry.
The tour will include ceremonial signings of the Farmland Preservation Act, which is landmark legislation ensuring family farms can be preserved for future generations.
Tennessee has unveiled a commemorative poster titled “Tennessee: The Original Frontier”.
The 250th birthday of the nation is being called the Semiquincentennial.
The Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th of 1776.
