Weakley County Sheriff’s Department issued a scam alert on this week.
The Sheriff’s Department is warning citizens of scam calls from a person by the name of “Deputy or Officer Halter”, stating that the judge has found the citizen in contempt of court and that they need to pay money or meet to pay the fines.
All court fines and other payments are to be paid directly to the courthouse through the clerk’s office. Do not give out personal information or send money to anyone in reference to this scam.
Anyone who receives a call similar to this should hang up and call the sheriff’s office to report the incident.
