
Ellen Murphy has been named the new Fulton County School Superintendent.
She replaces Ms. Patrice Chambers who has retired.
Ms. Murphy is a 1993 graduate of Fulton County.
After high school she obtained BS and MA degrees from Murray State University and the University of Tennessee at Martin.
She has been an educator for 25 years, 11 of those years serving as Principal of Fulton County High School.
Under her leadership, graduation rates increased college and career ready initiatives strengthened and partnerships with colleges and community partners flourished.
She is married to Chuck Murphy also a graduate of Fulton County, and they have two children, Hayden and Hannah both graduates of Fulton County.
In her new role as Superintendent, she is focused on providing opportunities for all students, building strong relationships across the district, and ensuring that the schools provide a safe, engaging learning environment.
She says “she is proud to be a Pilot and looking forward to continuing to build excellence within the Fulton County School District.”
