Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Warning Residents About Texting Scam

scam-alert-5-2

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is warning state residents about a text messaging scam.

Transportation officials say residents have reported fraudulent messages impersonating the state agency.

The messages also include a suspicious link similar to the Kentucky government website address.

The scam warns residents of unpaid traffic tickets, and says a violation will be reported with driving privileges suspended without immediate payment.

Transportation officials remind Kentucky residents that traffic ticket fees, and notifications, are not made by text messages.

Anyone receiving such texts are urged to not click the link, and to never provide and personal or banking information.
