Carroll counties airport is now officially known as the Sgt. Lee Russell- Carroll county airport.
Sergeant Russell passed away in an accident that took place summer of 2022 while flying a helicopter that came in contact with a power line
Sergeant Russell had served with the Tennessee Highway Patrol for 12 years and was assigned to the Special Opts Aviation Unit. He is survived by his wife, son, daughter, parents, brother, and grandmother.
