McKenzie Rebels
Head Coach: Keith Hodge (2nd Season)
Last Season: 13-1 (5-0 Region)
Classification: 6A
Since 2001, McKenzie has dominated the Single A landscape with a 210- 89 record and only two losing seasons in 24 years.
Carrying on the tradition of dominance for the Rebels, second year head coach Keith Hodge notched a 13-1 state semifinal appearance in his first season and looks to carry the flame of the program once again.
The Rebels open their season with two tough Region 7A opponents in Huntingdon and Dresden and Hodge loves the early challenge his team faces.
Talent, skill and fellowship are hallmarks not only of Rebel football but also the community; Hodge believes it’s the main reason for years of dominant success.
The Rebels are a perennial powerhouse at the single A level. Thanks in part to previous head coach Wade Comer, who spent 23 years in Carroll County with a 209-90 record, before taking a new role as head coach of Milan.
Losing 14 players to graduation this spring, last season Hodge’s Rebels dominated every aspect of the gridiron, averaging 52 points each contest and holding their opponents to under 11 points a game.
With 16 seniors and 51 members on the team, Cole Brown will transition from Wide Receiver to signal caller and take snaps as the quarterback from solid returning center Ryan Toombs. Coming back from a season ending injury from last season, Timmy Arline is expected to be the lead rusher for McKenzie.
The Rebels will participate in various scrimmages before opening up the season. August 1st they will travel to Obion County, August 8th versus Lexington, and finish off the preseason at the Henry County Jamboree versus McCracken County.
McKenzie’s first game of the season will be August 22nd at home versus Huntingdon.
