The high court has ruled yesterday that death row inmate; Byron Black will be executed without deactivating his implanted defibrillator ensuring his execution Tuesday morning as scheduled.
Tennessee Supreme Court found that requiring that the device be deactivated would interfere with the execution after the hospital disclosed it was unwilling to take part in the procedure.
Medical professionals considered that any participation in the execution would be a violation of medical ethics.
The unknown effect is how Black’s heart-regulating device will perform when the state attempts to execute him.
It is believed the defibrillator is likely to continuously shock Black’s heart, causing unnecessary pain and prolonging the execution.
