Dresden Lions
Head Coach: Justin Cruse (2nd Season)
Last Season: 5-5 (4-3 Region)
Classification: 7A
The Dresden Lions are prepping for a big football season this fall.
In his first year at the helm, Justin Cruse’s team finished 5-5. However, they ended the season on a three-game winning streak.
Heading into year two, he is confident his team is moving in a positive direction.
Cruse’s main focus this offseason is strengthening his offensive and defensive fronts with players such as Jaqwan Ellison, Brody Taylor, and Paker Scott impressing him with their growth.
Bruce Willis will resume his role as quarterback for the Lions with running back Luke Dipietro hoping to follow up on a season where he rushed for 1,400 yards.
Dresden was Class 1A state champions back in 2016 with an undefeated season and quarterback Dresser Winn winning Mr. Football. Winn would go on to play college at UT-Martin and most recently signed a contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
Cruse is hoping his team can emulate some of the qualities of that state championship team.
Dresden will have two home scrimmages, August 1st against Adamsville and August 8th versus Fulton County.
The Lions open their football season on August 22nd at home against Trinity Christian Academy.
