The University of Alabama has announced that Ty Simpson will be the starting quarterback for the Crimson Tide.
ESPN reported the former Westview standout and his teammates were informed during a meeting on Monday.
After leading Westview to the Tennessee State Football Championship in 2021, Simpson was named the Class 2A Mr. Football and Tennessee Gatorade Football Player of the Year.
Simpson was ESPN’s No.2 dual-threat quarterback nationally in the 2022 class when he choose Alabama over Clemson and Tennessee.
The 6’2”, 208 pound Simpson is in his fourth year on campus, serving the past two seasons as a backup.
The Crimson Tide are ranked 8th in the pre-season Associated Press football polls, and will open their season on the road on August 30th when they face Florida State.
