
Officials in Mason Tennessee voted to approve agreements to turn a former prison into an immigration detention facility operated by a private company.
The board agreed to convert the closed West Tennessee Detention Facility into a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center. It will be run by Core-Civic Inc. A private business.
When it was open, the prison located in Tipton County, was Mason’s largest employer.
