At the end of their career, United States Senator Mitch McConnell and his wife Elaine Chao are gifting their archives to the University of Louisville.

Senator McConnell will not seek office again as he and his wife will retire from politics.

McConnell currently holds the chair of the Senate Rules Committee. Prior to that, the Senator served as Speaker of the Senate.

Mrs. Chao was a former U.S. Labor and Transportation Secretary for Republican Administrations.

The archives of their papers will serve to be a  source for scholars and historians by offering insights into the couple’s careers.
