A Graves County farmer was rescued yesterday thanks to a Turtle Tub Grain Bin Rescue System.
Channel 6 reports sixty eight year old Will Bell of Cuba was working inside a grain bin on his farm on Elmos Road when soybeans shifted, trapping him.
Kentucky State Police and numerous first responders were able to rescue Mr. Bell with a Turtle Tub Grain Bin sleeve which allowed Mr. Bell to be pulled out of the grain.
An adult can sink knee deep in flowing grain in just 4 seconds and become fully buried in 20 seconds with the force of the grain preventing escape.
Suffocation is a leading cause of death in grain bins according to the National Ag Safety Data Base.
