
A Union City company has been selected to begin a significant project in Crockett County.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced Hal Coffey Contracting LLC was awarded the bid of $17.8 million dollars to relocate State Route 76 in Bells.
The work is part of a State Industrial Access project to promote industrial growth in the region, specifically Pictsweet, which is a major employer in Bells.
Work will include grading, drainage, construction of a concrete I-bean bridge, and paving on U.S.79.
Road closures will begin today in the City of Bells, including two locations on State Route 88, along with sections of Weddle Street and Hicks Street.
An estimated completion date has been set for August 31st of 2027.
