University School of Jackson handed the Westview Lady Chargers their first loss of the season 3-1 in Jackson Tuesday .
The home team took advantage of their size and speed to stymie the Lady Charger offensive attack in what was defensive battle between the squads.
The first score of the match came at the 24′ mark when Lady Bruin junior Reagan Whitledge launched a ball in the box that was cleaned up by a teammate to take the 1-0 lead. Westview answered with the conversion of their only corner of the match when Ashlee Brent found Hayden Markowski with two minutes left in the half.
The score was 1-1 at the break. USJ would net a ball 10 minutes into the second half before adding another in the 64th minute for the 3-1 victory, snapping the Lady Chargers five game winning streak.
Despite the loss, sophomore goalkeeper Kella Simmons turned in one of her finest performances as a Lady Charger. She recorded eight saves as USJ fired 19 shots, over half of which were on frame.
Westview (5-1) will head to Gatlinburg for the Smoky Mountain Cup this weekend. They will face Silverdale Friday night, before playing Station Camp HS (Gallatin, TN) and Franklin County (TN) on Saturday.
