
The latest report from the United States Drought Monitor shows the Ken-Tenn area in a Level 3 of 5 stage.
The “Severe Drought” declaration includes Lake, Obion, Weakley, Henry and Dyer County, along with portions of Carroll and Gibson County.
Fulton, Hickman and portions of Graves and Calloway County are also in the severe zone.
National Weather Service Meteorologist Brad Pugh, in College Park, Maryland, explained the “Severe Drought” status.(AUDIO)
Pugh said the severe designation means an area is experiencing drought impacts.(AUDIO)
The latest report from the Drought Monitor indicated a large part of the nation in some type of drought, ranging from Abnormally Dry to the most severe Exceptional Drought.
