
The Westview Lady Chargers opened the Smoky Mountain Cup with a convincing win over Silverdale Baptist Academy (Chattanooga) on Friday night, 4-0.
Hayden Markowski got things going five minutes in when she nailed a laser from the right side to the far post for the early lead. A dozen minutes later, Maddie Horton added a score when she outraced two defenders to find the back of the net to increase the lead. Ashlee Brent added one in the 25th minute, while Carson Gibson scored on a beautiful passing sequence involving Brea McGuffin and Horton to finish out the first half scoring, taking a halftime lead of 4-0
Neither team would score in the final 40 minutes as Westview improved to 5-1 on the season.
The Lady Chargers were efficient on the offensive end, taking 15 shots with 12 of them between the pipes. On the defensive end, Silverdale mustered seven shots on the night, with just two in the second half.
Westview will face Station Camp (Gallatin) at 9:50 am CST before finishing with Franklin County at 3:20 pm.
