Thursday night the Westview Lady Chargers took their first step in defense of the district title with a convincing 8-0 over 12A rival Huntingdon.
Scoring started quickly when Chanler Spendlove found the back of the net in the sixth minute. The game quickly turned into the Hayden Markowski show as the senior scored three straight goals (10′, 28′, 29′). Ashlee Brent nailed a shot just beyond the box, and Edurne Martinez, an exchange student from Spain, scored her 1st goal in the states to extend the lead to 6-0 at the break.
Maddie Horton and Cami Carlson each scored in the second half and the Lady Chargers picked up the district win, 8-0.
The defense was stellar once again, with the Fillies rarely crossing the midfield stripe. Huntingdon took one shot in 80 minutes to give the Lady Chargers their fifth shutout this season.
Westview (7-3) will head to Paris tonight for a match against Henry County at 5:00. The Lady Chargers will return to Paris Saturday morning to face Kirkwood at 11 am
