A property bond was approved in Obion County General Sessions Court Thursday morning for the release of 68 year old Gloria Ann Jenkins, of Rives.
Mrs. Jenkins has been held in the Obion County Jail on charges of first degree murder, following the shooting death of her husband, 71 year old pastor Paul Jenkins.
On September 16th, a 911 call to the Jenkins home in Rives resulted in Obion County Sheriff’s deputies and investigators finding Paul Jenkins deceased.
An Obion County Sheriff’s Office release stated Mrs. Jenkins made the call stating she had shot her husband.
In General Sessions Court today in front of Judge Jimmy Smith, a preliminary hearing for Mrs. Jenkins was pushed back to October 23rd, with a bond hearing held.
During the bond hearing, questions concerning character and past history of Mrs. Jenkins was asked by Public Defender Bill Randolph, with three of the Jenkins children on the stand to respond.
When considering a bond amount, Assistant District Attorney Frankie Stanfill requested the court take into account the charge of first degree murder against Mrs. Jenkins, which carries a life in prison, or life in prison without parole sentence, if found guilty.
Following discussion, Judge Smith issued a Deed of Trust property bond in the case, which would include the Jenkins home and property.
Judge Smith also issued house arrest and a GPS monitor.
Travel would also be allowed for medical, counseling and attorney appointments.
