The University of Tennessee-Martin has again been recognized as a best college to attend.
In the 2026 U.S. News and World Report “Best Colleges” ranking, the university is tied for 20th place for the second straight year.
The 20th spot comes in the Regional Universities South category, which includes 135 universities.
The rankings are decided from an evaluation of 17 factors, which includes graduation, retention and post-graduation earning rates.
Also in the Regional Universities South category, UT Martin tied for 9th as a “Top Public School”, 8th place for “Best Colleges for Veterans” and 21st for “Best Value Schools”.
UT Martin Chancellor Dr. Yancy Freeman said rankings tell only part of the story of a college or university, but many prospective students and their families use the rankings as a measure of quality.
