Westview Soccer Claims District Title

he Lady Chargers welcomed the McKenzie Lady Rebels Thursday night for the District 12A championship game 9 to 2.
For Westview, the final regular season match of the season started with a whimper, but ended with a bang on senior night.
McKenzie started quickly, scoring on a Westview turnover the first minute of the contest.  They added another fifteen minutes later, and the Lady Chargers faced their largest first half deficit of the season.  It wasn’t until the 31st minute of the half that senior Harper Jones found the back of the net from 28 yards out on the right side.  Senior Maddie Horton would score her first of four goals with two minutes left in the frame, allowing Westview to even the score at the break, 2-2.
A reinvigorated Lady Charger squad blew the doors open in the second half, starting with Horton’s second goal in the first minute of the second frame.  She would add another in the 53rd minute off an Ashlee Brent assist.  Hayden Markowski (57′), Jones (61′), Chanler Spendlove (62′) and Brent (69′) would all add scores before Horton finished the night with her fourth goal on a beautiful pass by Jones with three minutes left.
Westview (10-3-1) secured the district title with the 9-2 victory.
McKenzie freshman keeper Alleigh Britt was under pressure all night.  Despite the lopsided loss, she was phenomenal in goal, recording 21 saves.
Seniors Tess Anderson, Maddie Horton, Harper Jones, Hayden Markowski, and Chanler Spendlove were all honored before the match for their four years of service to the Lady Chargers soccer program.
